7:45 The Delegates are arriving.

8:16 Welcoming by the Presidents.

8:19 The President explains the debating procedure

8:25 The mock resolution is read to the forum - it's about the excessive driving of students to school by "caring" parents.

8:20 The Delegates start right into the mock debate

The Dominion of Canada is talking about moose getting in the way.

8:46 Italy speaks of problems with the enforcement of the law.

8:50 Whoops, the mock debate is already over. The resolution has not passed. Clapping is not in order.

1:45 Interesting presentation by Mr Khalifa on the refugee crisis in Europe and ensuing debate - not just the usual two or three shy questions but a really lively discussion showing the manyfold aspects of the refugee movements.

4:10 The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes demands to blame mainly Germany and Austria for the outbreak of the war.

8:55 The dance looks great! Quite impressive to see about 250 pupils dancing.
9:00 The Delegates arrive in the conference room. Exhausted.
9:20 Session commences.
9:21 Some Delegates are late.
9:29 Punishments! U.S. President Wilson has to sing his national anthem.
9:33 The Delegates from Japan and Poland have to sing 'I'm a Barbie Girl'.
9:34 They are even dancing.
9:38 Amendment: 'Recognizes the Republic of Germany as responsible for the actions of the German Empire.'

10:15 The Ottoman Empire says that you have to blame everybody who took part.
10:18 The United Kingdom says that many countries only entered the war, because they were attacked.
10:22 The Republic of China wants to change "certifies that all countries, who took part in the war, are also partly to blame for the outbreak of war" to ,"...that some other countries..."
10:32 with 6:10 against the amendment, this amendment failed. So it's again "...that all countries..."
10:54 with 10 votes in favour and 6 votes against the following states won't get blamed for the war: Belgium, Kingdom of Croats, Serbs and Slovenes, Kingdom of Hejaz, Dominion of Canada, Dominion of India and Poland.

11:55 23 Delegates and Mr B go ice-skating on the ice rink on Kennedy Square. The others have a city tour guided by Ms Darragh.

14:10 Delegates arrive in the conference room on the first floor.

14:22 The Debate on Reparations commences.
14:45 Everyone is going to the 22nd floor. What a view!
14:50 Refreshments at the top of Essen in Germany's tallest City Hall.
15:00 The Mayor of Essen, Mr Britz welcomes the Delegates to the City of Essen. Mr Boergen has to translate.
15:05 The Mayor gives us an excellent guided tour pointing at historically important building explaining how they represent certain periods of Essen's history and present.
15:35 Unfortunately we have to stop the tour now and go back to our conference room..
15:45 Opening speeches by the USA, Germany, Poland, Russia and others are given.
15:10 Germany actually offers to disarm its forces down to 100000 men unless in times of crisis, and to pay 30 billion marks as reparations.

09:03 Punishment - Germany has to sing "I´m too sexy"
09:05 Next punishment! The president has to sing "I´m sexy and I know it"
09:17 Germany submits a resolution in which Germany demands the demilitarisation of Germany to a total of 200,000 troops and additional 100,000 troops for League of Nations peace missions.

16:11 The delegate of Poland wants to be in both councils at the same time. The President reminds him that it still is not possible to clone a person.
16:12 Unmoderated caucus - Territorial conflicts. Tomorrow the conference will be divided into two councils, each for different territorial conflicts.

Day 4, 28 January

 

8:15 Taking roll call.
8:20 The Delegates attend some classes.
10:05 The territorial conflicts are debated in room 204 and 36 today. In one all the conflicts that involved Germany and its territories while all the others are debated in 36. Two new Co-Chairs support the Presidents now - one from the Polish Delegation and one from the Dominion of Canada. Thank you for your help!

11:00 The council is still waiting for their returned resolutions. Opening speeches are given.

11:05 Italy kindly offers to protect the Italian minority in formerly Austro-Hungarian regions from Austrian suppression.

11:26 USA supports the forming of new states in the former Ottoman Empire.

11:36 India call on equality for everyone.

11:42 The Pope is giving a speech.

11:43 Jane Addams asks why women do not have any political power.

11:45 The Pope insists on only men to have political power.

12:10 Finally! The approved version of the draft resolution by the Kingdom of the Croats, Serbs and Slovenes has arrived and   is debated.

12:18 Second!

12:18 Chair: There was no motion!

12:22 An Amendment wishing the Kingdom of the Croats, Serbs and Slovenes to be called Yugoslavia from now on has passed.

12:29 Mr Boergen is called to the press room to fix yet another computer problem...

14:10 Punishment for leaving the room without asking for permission - Japan. Butt spelling his name to Bieber's Baby.

14:18 Amendment to enable the Empires to rule their present colonies for another 10 years after PPC to stabilize the empires' economies.

14:34 next amendment passes!

14:35 open debate - Kingdom of CSS demands to Urge all countries to get Hungary. Laughter is in order.

14:37 CSS also urges all countries to Austria receiving Istria and the north-east of Italy.

14:45 No kidding but the amendment passes indeed!

14:48 Germany has drafted an amendment asking Austria to renounce Bohemia-Moravia and to hold a plebiscite after 5 years of German rule.

16:25 Poland has submitted a very comprehensive draft and speaks ardently in favour of it.

16:37 The newly founded state of Canada fully supports Poland's draft.

16:50 The first amendments are submitted, such as one about adding the Independence Commission which has been established in the the second territorial committee to the other Committees.

16:53 RoC suggests to have at least one nation from Asia to be one of the five permanent members of The Council.

Day 5, 29 January

08:16 The second president takes the roll call. The President is a bit late.

8:20 The issue of The Council which should have special powers is debated.

8:29 Japan suggests itself to be a permanent member of the Council.
8:50 Amendment: Non-Aggression is asked for by Belgium.
9:06 Russia introduces an amendment on non-interference in the domestic affairs of sovereign states.
9:27 Curbing radical movements in other sovereign states? Contradiction to the previous amendment!

9:45 We welcome our special guests, the Head of Department for the schools in Essen, our Headmaster and the President of our pta! The Press is also present to report on PPC. Watch out for reports in the WAZ.

10:15 Amendment: Calling for a Human Rights Committee.

10:18 President Wilson explains that this desirable amendment will not be approved by his people back home in the USA.

10:35 The League of Nations has been founded at 15:1 (USA). World Peace can commence now!

10:50 The Closing Ceremony commences in the assembly hall. Beautiful and harmonious music is played and sung by our most excellent orchestra and choir.

Moving speeches are given by Dr Haas, Mrs Lacroix and Mr Boergen thanking everyone who contributed.

11:25 Conference Manager Mr Boergen shows a shell from World War I.

11:27 He gives a presentation of the past week, showing many pictures, videos of the flash mob and the President's fit when the Delegate of Poland said repeatedly "I" instead of "we".

11:29 It is revealed that the shell was actually turned into an alarm clock.

11:45 The Conference Manager yields the floor to the president.

11:46 The final speaker is the President who declares this to have been one of the best weeks of his life.

11:49 The Ceremony is over after all have sung the European Hymn together.
